Yū is a Japanese style of Yoga based on the teachings of Masahiro Oki, Shizuto Masunaga and Adzej Gospodarcyk.
This highly therapeutic and sophisticated approach integrates Hatha Yoga with the principles of Traditional Meridian-Based Healing Arts of China & Japan
Seeing the Hatha yoga asanas through the lens of meridian therapy offers a profound understanding of the benefits of each yoga asana in their relation to the appropriate functionality of various organs. In addition to using yoga asanas, we use specific therapeutic exercises to help us address various imbalances in the body at any level of ability. Corrective exercises are used to strengthen and tone weaker functions as well as release and relax unnecessary tensions. These movements are used to draw our attention where it is needed and do the work required to restore balance and gain structural integrity.
Our classes, which always focus on building the core, strengthening as well as stretching, are suitable for even those who are yoga shy and feel inflexible. Using a remarkably accurate remedial system of poses, we are educating the body about proper functionality and relationships between parts, on a direct experience level. Each class is different and carefully structured to address students' needs, reflect seasonal changes and class focus (lower back, digestion/ weight loss, neck, and shoulder & women’s health).
